HISTORY.

The tale of Mason Turner begins not with the man himself, but with his fair city: Detroit. Dystopia, urban wasteland, Kindred feeding ground. Crime in the city has always provided the undead with cover for their hunts, what with people getting shot or stabbed (or worse) on a nightly basis.

This changed when one particularly powerful Elder came to town: Tatyana von Zarovich of the Invictus. She strongarmed the various Kindred political factions, maneuvered herself into the prince's place and wielded her covenant as the hammer with which she forged order out of chaos. The usual faction wars faded into obscurity, held in check by the new prince and her enforcers.

Mason Turner used to be an ordinary, everyday felon -- while the Veil between the Worlds of Light and Darkness had been broken decades ago, he rarely had to bother with supernatural menaces. Born in Detroit and practically raised by its criminal underground, he learned to become a survivor of the urban jungle: taking what he needed to earn a profit, getting away from anything dangerous enough to pose a legitimate threat. It didn't take long for others to recognize his talents and start paying him to 'liberate' belongings from their owners.

His life turned around during one particularly profitable job: his target was some expensive art piece at the penthouse of some foreigner, who so happened to be Lady von Zarovich herself.

To this day Kindred scholars debate on what possessed the prince that night, for she Embraced the lowly burglar on the spot and declared him her confidante, protegé and heir. Lust? Amusement? Some convoluted scheme? Regardless of her motivations, she initiated Mason Turner into the wonderful world of Kindred politics.

Alas, as things go among vampires, peace was not meant to be. Old rivalries caught up with the prince and Final Death came to Tatyana von Zarovich -- a politically-motivated assassination. Still, she had given her herd an heir, and the neonate Mason Turner acquired her former title.

Netsach managed to get to the prince in the nick of time, extracting him from his own domain right when the tensions were going from "flaring up" to "about to explode". He has taken up residence at the Falner estate and is looking forward to using his skills and talents to put down rogue Kindred.

PERSONALITY.

For most of his existence Mason's been a pragmatic, cunning (former) thug who's lived a hard life and knows how to survive. A lifetime in the streets has taught him to lie, cheat and steal -- mostly steal, though. He took a "take what you want when you want it or need it" approach to life while actively avoiding anything remotely capable of being a legitimate threat.

After becoming undead, Mason managed to find the time (after all, he's immortal now) to really sit down with himself and go over his past life choices. He's come to the realization that life isn't all about the next big score, and is in the process of figuring out what he really wants to do with his unlife.

While Mason Turner is by no means an unpleasant man, he's no smarter than the average mortal and has only started to learn social niceties; his sire's Ventrue lineage has evidently boosted his confidence.
